Massimiliano, Chairman of the law firm Bird & Bird, is the founder of Bird & Bird Italy and co‑head of the Italian Intellectual Property Group. He is also a member of the International Global Board, the International Management Committee and the International IP Steering Group.
He regularly advises clients, including public institutions on domestic and pan-European Intellectual Property litigation relating to patents, trademarks, copyright, advertising and unfair competition. In addition, he advises on non-contentious IP/IT/TMT and regulatory matters such as licencing, R&D, MTA, clinical trials, software agreements and IT maintenance, outsourcing, including disruptive technologies, pre clearance advertising, data protection. He also manages big trademarks portfolios. He operates in the life science, media, IT, internet, telecommunications, food and luxury goods sectors.
Having graduated cum laude from the University of Milan, he has practiced since 1990. A lecturer at the San Raffaele University, Massimiliano is also the author of several publications concerning licencing, product liability, copyright, transfer of technology and inventors awards.
He is often invited to speak at national and international conferences in the trade secrets, software, biotech, including rare diseases, charities, start up, incubators, cloud computing and crowdsourcing sectors.
